Movie: Anna Karenina
Genre: drama
Synopsis: An adaptation of
Leo Tolstoy’s famous novel with the same title, set in Tsarist Russia of the
late nineteenth century. Anna Karenina (Keira Knightley) is married a Russian
aristocrat, Karenin (Jude Law). Anna’s
world is turned upside down when she falls for Count Oblonsky (Matthew
Macfadyen).
My two cents: I am a big fan
of Keira Knightley. She and the
directory, Joe Wright, had done two previous movies together: “Pride and
Prejudice” and “Atonement”. I liked both
movies – Atonement is one of my absolute favorite movies of all time. So – I went into Ann Karenina with high hopes
– which were soon dashed. Much of the
movie seemed more like a play – but on hallucinogenics. Maybe I was just not in the mood for
something this weird – at least weird to my way of thinking. In any case, I am sorry to say that I only
lasted a little over an hour. I just
could not take it any longer.
