Movie: Play the Game
I saw it on: September 12, 2009
Cast: Paul Campbell, Andy Griffith, Doris Roberts, Liz Sheridan, Marla Sokoloff
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Synopsis: Paul Campbell (David Mitchell) is set for grad school until his Grandpa Joe (Andy Griffith) has a crisis. Paul uses his grad school money to buy his Grandpa Joe a condo in a retirement home. Joe is miserably lonely, so Paul tutors him in how to attract members of the opposite sex. What follows involves Grandpa Joe discovering the wonders of Viagra and becoming the retirement home gigolo.
My two cents: A pretty funny movie. Andy Griffith was hilarious. Doris Roberts was one of the targets of Joe’s advances. It was hard to shake Marie Romano from my mind – her character here is a real sweetheart. I especially loved the twist at the end of the movie – it sure caught me flat-footed.
