Movie: Surrogates
I saw it on: September 30, 2009
Cast: Bruce Willis, Radha Mitchell, Rosamund Pike, James Francis Ginty, Boris Kodjoe
Genre: Science Fiction, Thriller
Synopsis: Set in the future . . . virtually all work is done by “surrogates” controlled by people (called controllers) who just stay at home with headgear on. People seldom leave their houses any more – they have their surrogates do everything. Then a surrogate is killed and something causes his controller to die also. Bruce Willis plays a detective assigned to investigate. Naturally, Bruce plays the human as well as his surrogate.
My two cents: An interesting concept – but a bit too unrealistic. The cost of such units would be astronomical – yet it seems that everyone is able to afford them. I also could not get past the technology that would be required to have millions of these things running around linked real-time to their controllers.
Did not live up to my hopes.
